Some poker variants include wild cards that are used instead of or in addition to the 52 playing cards to substitute for any other cards the player needs to form a hand (regardless of the suit or rank). The “wild card” is mutually agreed upon prior to the start of the game.
In wild card poker games, the individual cards and the rankings of the poker hands remain the same, however, the additional hands formed due to the inclusion of the wild cards changes the hand rankings slightly.
For example, Five of a Kind is a non-standard poker hand that is made possible when using one or more wild cards such as the jokers in the deck. A Five of a Kind usually beats all other poker hands including a Royal Flush, and if more than one player has five of a kind, the higher card wins. For example, five aces beat five kings, etc. Although the exact rules of the wild card poker game should be confirmed before play.
