An abbreviation for “small blind” in Texas Hold’em. In a game with multiple blind bets, it refers to the smallest blind.
EXAMPLE “The UTG player open raises and it folded around to me in the SB and I call with pocket Eights.”
Playing in the SB is difficult because you’re forced to pay half of the big blind before even seeing your cards, and you’ll be at a positional disadvantage in the hand after the flop, which is why long term even winning players lose money in this position.
With that being said, when it comes to playing poker online, practising your play in the SB will help to plug some leaks, so why not head over to SB Poker, the fastest growing online poker site for US-players.
