PokerTracker (PT for short) is an online poker software tool, which is used to track player stats and display real time HUD statistics. Once you start playing online, you’ll probably see that you need to improve. Doing some analysis of your past play is a good way of improving future play. Poker Tracker is an excellent tool for analyzing the log files that many supported online poker rooms make available to you (most of the biggest online poker rooms store the information right on your PC, making it easy for PokerTracker to retrieve). Poker Tracker reads these log files and generates large batch of statistics that will help you see where you’ve gone wrong (or right).
PokerTracker does cost $60 for the small stakes version, but that’s a small price to pay for this much insight into your game. Good news: they have a free downloadable demo version so you can thoroughly try it out before you buy. Even if you just use PokerTracker to keep track of your results for tax reporting purposes, it’s worth the investment. But if that’s all you’re using it for (and we know you’re out there), you’re really not working hard enough at improving your game. If you’re having trouble figuring out how to make the most of PT, there are forums on their web site where folks are discussing such things all the time (a benefit from using software that just about every other serious online poker player uses).
