The European Poker Tour (EPT) is a series of poker tournaments held in Europe every year. The concept is very similar to the World Poker Tour (WPT). European Poker Tour events are sponsored by PokerStars and created by John Duthie who was the winner at the inaugural Poker Million tournament.
The EPT started in September of 2004 at the same time as the “poker boom”. Throughout the year, the EPT circuit travels to the best casinos in Europe, starting in Barcelona, Spain every year before the tour draws to a close at the EPT Grand Final, which is usually hosted in Monte Carlo, home to a prestigious casino. The Grand Final is the biggest and most important event on the EPT calendar.
An EPT Player of the Year is awarded to the player that puts in the most consistent performances over the year in EPT events.
