Black Friday

Black Friday is a term used by the poker community that refers to the events of April 15, 2011, when the U.S. DOJ issued indictments against the 3 largest online poker rooms in the country: PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Ultimate Bet/Absolute Poker.

Following the indictments all of the indicted poker rooms stopped accepting players from the US, effectively shutting out the leading online poker sites out there today for Americans. In the case of Full Tilt Poker, U.S. players are still waiting to see their funds. Here’s a CNN video on the Full Tilt/Black Friday situation.
