Bad Beat Jackpot

Some online/live card rooms offer a bad beat jackpot (BBJ) when a player makes a certain hand or loses with a strong hand. The jackpot amount can rise throughout the day or be a predetermined amount.

Not all online poker rooms have a bad beat jackpot, those that do require a player to pay extra rake at the designated BBJ/jackpot tables.

There are rules with any bad beat jackpot promotion, so even though you may consider a hand to be a bad beat since you managed to lose with a strong hand only to have an opponent improve to a better hand, however, according to the rules, it might not be eligible for receiving a share of the jackpot. So, always check to make sure you understand the terms and conditions of the Bad Beat Jackpot.
